Malaysia's first Chinese Leftenan Jeneral to retire next year

KUALA LUMPUR: Leftenan Jeneral Datuk Johnny Lim Eng Seng, the first Chinese officer to achieve this rank in the Malaysian Armed Forces, is set to retire in January next year.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said Lim made history in June as the first Chinese individual to be awarded the rank of Lieutenant General.

"On behalf of the government and the ministry, we highly appreciate his service and sacrifice for the country and the military.

"I hope he will continue to contribute to the country in his own capacity. Thank you and have a good retirement," he said in a social media post after receiving a courtesy call from Lim recently.
