Sept 15 declared public holiday


PETALING JAYA: This year's Malaysia Day celebration offers Malaysians a potentially long weekend as Sept 15 is declared an additional public holiday by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

This allows Malaysians to enjoy a long weekend from Saturday (Sept 13) to Malaysia Day on Tuesday (Sept 16).

Anwar announced that this public holiday would enable Malaysians to enjoy the long break with their family or take a much-needed vacation.

"This public holiday is to appreciate the unity and significance of Malaysia’s formation.

"This will also encourage people to strengthen family bonds by visiting their hometowns or vacationing locally," he said in a live announcement on Thursday (July 23).
