Sejahtera Madani: Govt to launch new initiative to combat poverty tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR: The government will launch the Sejahtera Madani initiative on Thursday (July 24) to further efforts in eradicating hardcore poverty in the country, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced.

He stated that the launch continues the government's commitment to ensuring assistance for the hardcore poor and the poor through collaboration between the government and the corporate sector.

"The effort to eradicate hardcore poverty has been my priority since the beginning. Almost 150,000 hardcore poor households in 2023 have been lifted out of the hardcore poor group by the end of 2024.

"Tomorrow, I will launch Sejahtera MADANI, which is an effort to continue ensuring that the hardcore poor and the poor are properly assisted through joint efforts by the government and the corporate sector," said Anwar.

He made this statement during the Special Appreciation Announcement for Malaysians, broadcast live on all major television channels and social media platforms on Thursday (July 24).
