MetMalaysia issues storm warning for 11 states


PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning for thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds across 11 states until 2pm on Saturday (July 12).

MetMalaysia said that the warning affects the waters off Perlis and Kedah, Penang, Perak, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, Pahang, Terengganu, eastern Sabah, and Lahad Datu.

“These conditions can lead to wind speeds of up to 50km/h and rough seas with waves reaching heights of up to 3.5m, posing a danger to small boats.

“Similar conditions are expected in the waters of the Straits of Malacca, east of Samui, Tioman, southwest of Condore, northwest of Bunguran, east of Reef North, Layang-Layang, Labuan, Palawan, Sulu, and Sulawesi,” it said in a statement today.
