Serial sexual assault suspect nabbed in Kedah trying to flee country, say cops

SHAH ALAM: A suspected Pakistani serial sexual offender, believed to have preyed on boys, was arrested in Kuala Nerang, Kedah, as he attempted to flee the country.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the 25-year-old main suspect was detained on Tuesday (July 8) together with an accomplice, also a Pakistani national.

“The second suspect is believed to have assisted the main suspect by hiding him from authorities,” he said when contacted on Wednesday.

The case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 and Section 377C of the Penal Code.

ACP Mohd Iqbal said both suspects will be remanded based on four investigation papers that have been opened.

He advised parents to be vigilant about their children's safety.

“Do not allow children to go out alone to isolated areas, as they may become easy targets for criminals,” he said.

He also urged anyone with information to contact investigating officer Insp Siti Mahanira Mahat at 017-6444895.

Earlier reports revealed that at least four boys were allegedly sexually assaulted by a Pakistani man in Sections 27 and 28 of Shah Alam.

ACP Mohd Iqbal previously stated that since April, four police reports had been lodged regarding a serial sex offender targeting boys.

“We believe the perpetrator is a 25-year-old Pakistani man. He would approach his victims under the pretext of seeking help, then lure them to secluded areas before sexually assaulting or molesting them,” he said.

The victims are aged nine, 13, 14, and 19.

According to police, the suspect would resort to physical violence, such as punching or choking, if the victims resisted. He reportedly initiated contact by asking for assistance or requesting help to book an e-hailing ride. When the victims were distracted, he would grab them from behind before proceeding with the assault.
