Motorcyclist killed in Kota Tinggi crash


KOTA TINGGI: A 23-year-old man was killed after he reportedly lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a car here.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Yusof Othman said they were informed of the accident, which occurred at KM46 Jalan Sungai Rengit-Kota Tinggi here, at 5.15am on Monday (July 7).

“The motorcyclist veered into the opposite lane before crashing into a car driven by another 23-year-old man. The motorcycle was then engulfed in flames.

“The victim was not caught in the fire but was thrown to the side of the road, where he sustained serious head injuries.

"He was pronounced dead at the scene,” he said in a statement.

He added that the victim’s body was referred to the forensic unit at Hospital Kota Tinggi for further investigation.

“Meanwhile, the car driver was unharmed and has been detained to assist in the investigation," he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Supt Yusof also advised the public to remain cautious and obey traffic laws and regulations, to ensure the safety of all road users.
