MetMalaysia issues thunderstorm warning for four states and Putrajaya


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for areas in Perak, Terengganu, Pahang and Johor.

These warnings will be in effect until 5pm on Friday (July 4), MetMalaysia said in a post on it's Facebook page.

In Perak, the affected districts include Kerian, Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang, and Muallim.

Kemaman in Terengganu is also on alert for severe weather.

In Pahang, areas such as Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Lipis, Raub, Kuantan, Bera, Pekan, and Rompin are expected to experience adverse conditions.

The entire state of Johor is included in the warning.

MetMalaysia issues these warnings when thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour are imminent or expected to persist for more than an hour.

These are short-term warnings, valid for no more than six hours from issuance.
