PUTRAJAYA: Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain has been appointed as the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) director-general under the Home Ministry.

The appointment, which takes effect on Tuesday, is for two years, from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2027.

Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, in a statement, expressed confidence that Comm Shuhaily, 53, who has 26 years of experience in the police service, would be able to lead the AKPS with distinction.

"This confidence is based on Comm Shuhaily's competence and extensive experience in various units in the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), both at national and international levels.

"His leadership is also expected to further strengthen the country's border security and uphold a culture of integrity in line with the Madani values," he said.

Comm Shuhaily graduated with a Bachelor of International Relations from the International Islamic University Malaysia and a Master of Science in Strategic Studies, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

He previously served in Washington, United States, as a Police Attaché from 2010 to 2013. He was appointed as Bukit Aman CID director on Aug 15, 2023.
