KOTA KINABALU: The strategic partnership between Sabah and China is expected to strengthen further with continued diplomatic and development cooperation, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

He said a range of joint development initiatives are in the pipeline, and Sabah remained committed to creating a conducive and investor-friendly environment to attract more Chinese investments into the state.

Speaking after receiving a courtesy call from the newly appointed Chinese Consul General in Kota Kinabalu, Dr Zhu Xinglong, yesterday, Hajiji expressed optimism about the future of bilateral ties.

“We are confident that the strong foundation of our relationship will only be further strengthened,” he said.

During the meeting, Hajiji congratulated Zhu on his appointment and expressed hope that it would further boost relations between Sabah and China across various sectors, including investment, trade, tourism and education.

This marks Zhu’s first official visit since taking over from his predecessor, Dr Huang Shifang, who has been appointed as the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Mauritius.
