KOTA KINABALU: The strategic relationship between Sabah and China is set to grow stronger with ongoing diplomatic and development partnerships, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
He stated that various development initiatives are being planned, with Sabah committed to creating a conducive, investor-friendly environment to attract more Chinese companies to the state.
He made these remarks after receiving a courtesy call from the newly appointed Consul General of China in Kota Kinabalu, Dr Zhu Xinglong, on Wednesday (June 18).
“We are confident that the existing relationship will only be strengthened,” said Hajiji.
During the courtesy call, he congratulated Dr Zhu on his appointment, expressing confidence that it will boost new two-way relations between Sabah and China, especially in investment, trade, tourism, education, and other sectors.
This is Dr Zhu's first visit to Hajiji after replacing the former Consul General of China in Kota Kinabalu, Dr Huang Shifang.
Dr Huang, who held the post from 30 May 2022 until the end of March this year, is now the new Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Mauritius. She arrived in Mauritius on 2 May.
