Gerik bus crash: Cops record statement of MPV driver


IPOH: Police have recorded a statement from the driver of a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) involved in the accident that resulted in the death of 15 Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) students.

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said the statement of the MPV driver was recorded on Monday (June 9).

"The driver's wife and two children are still warded at the Baling Hospital in Kedah.

"We have yet to take statements from any of the students," he said on Tuesday (June 10).

He said of the 27 students injured, only ten are receiving treatment.

"Eight of them have been admitted to the Taiping Hospital and two at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here," he said, adding that those receiving treatment are in stable condition.

He also said the bus driver and an attendant are still receiving treatment at Taiping Hospital.
