Remains of Port Klang boat tragedy victim leave hospital

SHAH ALAM: The remains of a 50-year-old man, one of three bodies recovered from a boat tragedy in Port Klang, have left Hospital Shah Alam.

It is understood that the remains of Cheu Son Hin, believed to be the boat's captain, have been taken to his home in Aman Perdana.

The victims' families briefly acknowledged the incident when approached on Saturday (June 7) but declined to comment further when approached by reporters.

The recovered remains of the other two, Darren Gan, 3, and Fong Yong Sen, 29, remain at the forensic department of Hospital Shah Alam.

The child's parents, Gan Hon Tat, 32, and Careen Man, 29, from Klang Utama, are still missing.

Alvin Chang Yan Qin, 17, was the sole survivor rescued alive.

The incident is believed to have occurred during a test drive of a recently repaired boat.

Selangor Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) director Captain Abdul Muhaimin Muhammad Salleh said a search and rescue operation for the couple is ongoing.

A search and rescue operations centre has been established at the Selangor MMEA office to coordinate efforts.

The Marine Police, MMEA, and Fire and Rescue Department are involved in the operation.
