Organised by the Marine Conservation and Research Organisation Malaysia (Pulihara), the organisation used to conduct its activities under the umbrella of the Lang Tengah Turtle Watch.

The event at Pantai Chakar Hutan, Kertih, Terengganu, saw the release of 63 turtles back to nature, with the participants also given a briefing on the lifecycle of turtles and their role in the marine ecosystem.

In the Bernama report, the Terengganu Fisheries Department was said to have recorded 20 cases of green turtle or penyu agar (Chelonia mydas) deaths in the first quarter of this year, underscoring the severity of the situation.
