FRU crash tragedy: Probe findings to be presented to Cabinet next week, says Loke


PUTRAJAYA: The findings of the investigation into the recent road crash that claimed the lives of nine Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) personnel will be presented to Cabinet next week, says Anthony Loke.

“The preliminary report from the special task force will be tabled at the post-Cabinet meeting next week, We have given the task force 30 days for this.

“I will present it to Cabinet myself before we decide on the next course of action,” the Transport Minister told a press conference at the ministry’s headquarters on Wednesday (June 4).

Loke was asked for updates about the crash between an FRU truck and a gravel-laden lorry in Teluk Intan, Perak, last month.

.The crash killed nine FRU personnel and injured nine others.

Following this, a special task force, comprising various experts and representatives from key agencies, was formed to investigate the fatal crash.

It was established to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the root cause of the incident, including identifying any systemic weaknesses in road safety measures.

It will also reassess existing guidelines, infrastructure and the application of safety technologies to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
