Cops launch probe after baby found dead at Wangsa Maju taska


KUALA LUMPUR: Police are investigating the case of a seven-month-old baby who was found dead at a taska (childcare centre) in Wangsa Maju here.

Wangsa Maju deputy OCPD Supt Syahrul Anuar Abdul Wahab said the incident occurred on Monday (May 26) in Taman Danau Kota.

"A police report was filed by the baby's father at the Setapak police station the same day," he said in a statement on Wednesday (May 28).

"The case is being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001 and a post-mortem will be conducted."

Section 31(1) covers offences related to child neglect, abuse, abandonment, or exposure to harm.

Supt Syahrul Anuar said the investigation is being conducted by the D11 (Sexual, Women and Children Investigation) division of city police headquarters and urged anyone with information on the case to come forward.
