UTeM signs international collaboration pact with Indian institution

MELAKA: Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a private institution from India to begin international collaboration.

The MoU with India's PACE Institute of Technology and Science (PACE ITS) and UTeM was formalised recently at the Chancellery Building of UTeM in Durian Tunggal.

PACE ITS was represented by Dr Sridhar Maddisetty and Dr G.V.K. Murthy.

The event was also attended by Associate Professor Ts Dr Muhammad Hafidz Fazli Md Fauadi, Dean of the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity, and Hazman Hasib, Director of the Strategic Corporate and Global Relations Office (UGlobe).

UTeM's Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Ts Dr Massila Kamalrudin described the partnership as a strategic move to strengthen UTeM’s international collaborations, particularly in student mobility, capacity building, joint research, and knowledge transfer.

"Through this agreement, UTeM is set to receive 15 inbound mobility students from PACE ITS in July 2025."

"A joint consultation project is scheduled for December 2025, with PACE ITS students participating in various holistic and leadership development programmes," she said on Tuesday (May 27).

She said the initiative paves the way for grant applications and capacity-building programmes that will enhance academic and professional engagement between the two institutions.

"The bilateral cooperation between UTeM and PACE ITS will focus on high-impact projects, including joint workshops and seminars in Artificial Intelligence and Computing Security."

"Both institutions aim to establish a series of expert-sharing programmes supporting several high-potential research and publication projects," she added.

Dr Massila noted that this international partnership aligns with UTeM’s strategic plan and supports the Ministry of Higher Education’s internationalisation of higher education.
