JOHOR BARU: The three-day major water disruption in Johor Baru and Iskandar Malaysia, which affected almost 500,000 people, has been fully resolved, says the water concessionaire.

Ranhill SAJ chief operations officer Khairul Effendy Tusam thanked consumers for their patience and cooperation during the disruption.

"The disruption to the main caused by the main pump, which processes raw water at the Sg Johor water treatment plant, was unexpected, and the repair team has faced difficulties throughout the entire repair process since Tuesday (May 20).

"We admit the inconvenience faced by consumers due to this disruption," he said on Saturday (May 24), adding that they did their best to fix the problem.

He said that they were conducting a detailed investigation into the cause of the issue.

"We are also looking at the details of all the technical aspects, including maintenance schedules of the equipment in the processing system and the water pipe alignment,"  he said, adding that they hope to update their existing procedures to avoid a repeat in future.

The water cuts have affected some 150,000 account holders in Johor Baru and Iskandar Puteri.

The issues at the treatment plant disrupt 318 million litres of treated water daily.
