KUALA PILAH: Police have detained two suspects allegedly involved in break-ins at five mosques.

District OCPD Supt Muhamad Mustafah Hussin said the duo admitted to stealing cash from donation boxes at these places of worship.

Police had received reports of break-ins at the Sg Dua Kecil, Kuala Sg Dua, Kg Parit, Sg Dua Besar, and Nur Salbiah mosques.

One suspect is 19 and the other is in his 20s.

"We detained the two suspects in separate operations and seized a car where we found tools used for the crimes.

"We also seized two donation boxes and RM120 believed to have been stolen from the mosques," he said in a statement.

Supt Muhamad Mustafah said the duo admitted to the crimes in this district and others.

"We advise the public to enhance security at places of worship and ensure their CCTV systems are functioning well," he added.
