Police intensify operations against heavy vehicles


KUALA LUMPUR: The police will intensify operations against heavy vehicles through "Ops Perdagangan," says Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri.

The Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) director said the operation is conducted continuously, targeting heavy vehicles such as lorries and buses.

"We conducted the operations along with the Road Transport Department (JPJ) to ensure drivers adhere to traffic rules and regulations.

"The operation is also aimed at ensuring vehicles are in good condition and safe," he said at a press conference after briefing JSPT personnel on the Asean Summit at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) on Monday (May 19).

Regarding the tragedy that killed nine Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) personnel in Teluk Intan recently, Comm Mohd Yusri said JSPT has completed its investigation and the lorry driver has been charged.

"We leave it to the courts for the next process, including a trial," he said.
