PETALING JAYA: A teacher at a tuition centre in Pandan Indah, Kuala Lumpur, has been detained for allegedly sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl.
The incident came to light when the victim's mother inquired about her daughter's progress at the centre, prompting the girl to disclose the alleged actions of the suspect.
The victim claimed the assaults began when the suspect started working at the centre in March. Her mother subsequently lodged a police report at the Pandan Indah police station.
According to a report by Sinar Harian, the suspect has been arrested and is facing action under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
Senior Assistant Commissioner Siti Kamsiah Hassan, principal assistant director of Bukit Aman's Sexual, Women and Child Investigation Division D11, confirmed the incident.
She stated that the suspect is currently in remand and will face charges this week.
