KOTA KINABALU: PKR’s campaign in Sabah is centred on a clear and consistent message, which is to strengthen unity within the coalition and deliver stable governance for the people, says its leaders.
Party leaders said their presence on the ground, particularly during the launch of Sabah PKR’s election machinery here on Saturday (May 17), reflected their commitment to long-term cooperation under the federal unity government.
“We must stay united under the coalition umbrella. The key message is to win, not just for the party, but for the coalition as a whole,” said PKR vice-president Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
He said this approach was clearly demonstrated during the recent visit by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to Sabah, where the stress was on supporting shared aspirations across component parties.
“That includes technical coordination, campaign strategy, and mobilisation. Selangor has always extended help, and we will continue to do so, with our 'people’s army', ensuring candidates from each branch and team are fully supported, whether they are from Sabah, Selangor, or elsewhere,” said Amirudin, who is Gombak MP.
He stressed that winning or losing should not be the only measure of success.
“We have worked on the ground before, during, and after elections, and we will continue, regardless of the outcome. The two key goals are to win support for the party and coalition aspirations, and to deliver the best contribution to governance,” he added.
PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar also underscored the importance of consistency and trust-building across all efforts.
“Our message is not just about elections. It is about staying consistent, building unity, and earning trust over time,” she said, adding that cooperation among component parties is key to navigating an increasingly complex political landscape.
“Whether in Sabah or elsewhere, we must uphold the values we preach, respect, cooperation, and inclusivity,” she added.
She said PKR’s grassroots mobilisation and support system, both in Sabah and Peninsular Malaysia, are grounded in shared values and long-term commitment, adding that the party’s presence and support are visible both during and beyond election seasons.
The event marked a show of support and alignment among party leaders as they gear up for the 17th state election.
Also present was Sabah PKR chief Datuk Mustapha Sakmud.
