Report filed over scam misuing name of Bukit Aman and social media personality Gadis QS

MELAKA: Police reports have been lodged over a scam that misuses the names of Bukit Aman and social media personality Gadis QS

Melaka police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said Jasin OCPD Supt Mohamad Rusli Mat filed the report at 6.32pm at the Jasin police station on Thursday (May 15) after receiving the fraudulent message.

He said the message contained a fake press release supposedly from Bukit Aman about a programme involving Gadis QS, giving away a luxury car and cash prizes.

"The content in the image shared is false and misleading.

"Bukit Aman has never issued any media statement about such a programme," he said on Friday (May 16).

DCP Dzulkhairi said the case is being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for the misuse of network facilities, which carries a maximum fine of RM500,000, imprisonment for up to two years, or both, upon conviction.

Gadis QS, who has a large TikTok following, also said she had filed a police report over the matter.
