Johor govt to hold talks with Harvard to develop courses for state civil servants

ISKANDAR PUTERI: The state government will hold talks with Harvard University to develop courses for Johor Civil Service (JCS) officers, says Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.

Tunku Ismail said this was part of ongoing efforts to ensure JCS officers are equipped with global knowledge and leadership skills that meet current needs.

“As a start, the state government, through the Permodalan Darul Ta’zim Education Fund, has sponsored senior JCS officers to attend world-class professional development courses at international institutions, including Ivy League universities in the United States.

“I have also decreed for the state government to hold discussions with Harvard University to explore new approaches in developing professional courses in Johor,” he said.

He said this in his speech when opening the fourth term of the 15th Johor State Legislative Assembly sitting at Bangunan Sultan Ismail here on Friday (May 16).

The Johor Regent said the initiative is important as JCS officers are the backbone of the state administration and serve as a bridge between the government and the people.

“I believe this is a strategic investment for Johor’s future.

“I want the state to have administrative officers who are not only excellent in technical and administrative aspects, but who also possess critical thinking skills, the ability to make sound decisions, and the resilience to face future challenges,” he added.
