Tamil school wins big at culture fest

SJK(T) Teluk Panglima Garang in Selangor emerged as the overall winner of the Muthamizh Vizha 2025, a Tamil culture festival organised by MMU Cyberjaya students, Makkal Osai reported.

The annual festival, organised by the university’s Indian Cultural Society (ICS), featured eight events for Tamil school students to showcase their talents.

Around 250 students took part in essay writing, poetry recitation, songwriting, storytelling, drawing, Thirukkural recitation, debate and public speaking competitions.

Local literary figures, educators and artists such as Thiban Okk, Datin Sri Shaila Nair and Jay Dhaharasen were among those who served as judges for the competitions.

The event serves as a platform for students to express their talents and promote interest in the Tamil language.

Local filmmaker and MMU graduate turned senior lecturer Dr Vimala Perumal served as the convener for the event.

The team from SJK(T) Teluk Panglima Garang took home a trophy and certificates for their win.
