KUCHING: Sarawak Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, have extended Wesak greetings to Buddhists in Sarawak and Malaysia.

The Head of State said Wesak Day is a significant celebration for Buddhists, commemorating the birth, enlightenment, and passing of Siddhartha Gautama, the religion's founder.

"It invites us to reflect on moral values such as love, moderation, tolerance, and sympathy towards fellow human beings regardless of race and religion.

"I hope this Wesak Day will be celebrated meaningfully in an atmosphere of peace and mutual respect," he said on Monday (May 12)

Wan Junaidi also expressed pride in the healthy spirit of unity and harmony among the various races and faiths in Sarawak.

"Let us continue to preserve this harmony as the basis for the development and stability of our beloved state," he said.
