Rafizi back at work, exit talk quashed


PETALING JAYA: Talk that Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli is resigning from his Cabinet post has been laid to rest following his return to work.

The Economy Minister was said to have gone to his office in Putrajaya yesterday and carried out his duties as usual.

This effectively ended talk of Rafizi resigning, a source told Sinar Harian.

However, it is uncertain whether he will issue any formal explanation regarding the matter.

Talk that Rafizi, who is also PKR’s deputy president, had taken extended leave due to dissatisfaction with the party’s recent divisional election results sparked widespread discussion.

He was also reportedly said to have expressed his intention to resign during a meeting with his supporters, held after the PKR central leadership council meeting on April 23.

When questioned, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated that Rafizi’s leave should not be made into an issue.

He said Rafizi was on leave for a few days, not until the end of the month as reported.
