A WOMAN from China’s Jiangsu province who was on a three-month medical leave was sacked after she was spotted attending a concert by Singaporean singer JJ Lin, reported China Press.
The woman, surnamed Zhou, submitted 11 medical certificates and was on leave for 82 days between December 2023 and April last year.
However, company investigation revealed that she travelled to a different province to attend a concert by Lin.
She was even found to be fit enough to attend a wedding reception of one of her relatives.
Upon finding out about this, the company fired her in April 2024 for absenteeism.
The woman believed she was unfairly dismissed and took matters to court.
After reviewing the evidence available, the Nanjing court deemed that Zhou had not been bedridden the entire period of her medical leave unlike what she had claimed.
The court also constituted her actions as fraud.
