PKR satisfied with election audit results, says Fuziah

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR's Central Leadership Council is satisfied with the results of its division-level elections following an audit, says party secretary-general Dr Fuziah Salleh.

She said the council met on Sunday (May 4) evening after receiving a presentation from the party's election committee and reports from an international digital auditor

"The international digital auditor confirmed the 2025 election results at the Branch Committee, Women's branch, and Youth Branch levels for all 220 PKR branches."

"The final results for the 2025 branch-level elections will be published starting today," she said in a statement on Monday (May 5).

On Saturday (May 3), PKR Party Election Committee chairman Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the audit report on alleged irregularities in the recent PKR divisional elections was expected within days.

Zaliha said the independent auditors appointed by the party had monitored the election process and were given full access to documents for verification.

Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim reportedly said external auditors were appointed following concerns over how the polls were conducted.

He, however, dismissed concerns that the party's upcoming leadership elections would be unfair, despite complaints over the recent branch-level results.

He said that complaints did not automatically indicate unfairness in the process.

On April 25, PKR's Party Election Committee confirmed it was reviewing multiple appeals related to the division-level polls.

Meanwhile, on a separate note, Fuziah said around 10,000 delegates are expected to attend PKR's annual congress from May 23 to 25.

"They will vote in person to elect members of the Central Leadership Council, while over 20,000 delegates will cast their votes for central leadership posts online."

"Preparations are being made for the annual congress for the year 2024 and 2025, which will be held on May 22, 23, and 24 at the Persada Johor International Convention Centre in Johor Bahru."

"Based on our representation system, defeated division chief candidates are still eligible to send delegates to the congress in proportion to the percentage of votes they received at the divisional-level polls."

"The principle that winners do not win everything and losers do not lose it all will further invigorate the democratic process in the 2025 elections during this Congress," she said.

Fuziah said there would be a nationwide pre-congress roadshow, including in Sabah and Sarawak, to ensure delegates receive accurate and comprehensive information to be fully prepared for the congress.

"The roadshow will provide a platform for all Central Leadership Council candidates to meet and introduce themselves to the delegates," she said.
