Boy, 10, killed after car crashes into two other vehicles on JB–Mersing road


KOTA TINGGI: A 10-year-old boy was killed while 10 others were injured in an accident at KM44.2 of the Johor Baru–Mersing road here on Friday (May 2).

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Yusof Othman said the accident involving three vehicles is believed to have occurred at about 7.50pm.

"Early investigation found that the accident happened when one of the cars, driven by a 47-year-old woman, lost control of the wheel and skidded into the middle of the road, colliding with two other cars.

"Among the four passengers in the car was the driver's 10-year-old son, who suffered serious injuries due to the collision," he said in a statement here.

Supt Yusof said the boy was pronounced dead at the scene after succumbing to his injuries, and his body has been sent to Kota Tinggi Hospital for a postmortem.

"The driver and three other passengers in the car have been sent to Kota Tinggi Hospital for further treatment.

"The passengers and driver, who are between three and 87 years old in the two other cars, also suffered some injuries and were sent to the same hospital," he added.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act.
