Singapore PM connects with Anwar amid election campaign

PETALING JAYA: Even amid the busy campaign trail of Singapore's general election (GE2025), Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong has found time to speak with Malaysia's Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Wong said he took a break from his party's GE2025 campaign to chat with Anwar over the phone on Tuesday (April 29).

He added that their friendly exchange included Anwar updating him on the humanitarian situation in Myanmar following the recent major earthquake.

"As this year's Asean Chairman, Malaysia played an important role in coordinating Asean’s response to the earthquake," Wong said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

"In these uncertain times, regional unity matters more than ever," he added.

Singapore's GE2025 is set to take place on May 3.
