Misunderstanding leads to fatal altercation among friends in Penang

BUKIT MERTAJAM: A brawl between two elderly men has resulted in the death of one of them at a hut in Cherok Tokun here on Sunday (April 27).

Central Seberang Perai OCPD Asst Comm Helmi Aris said that the police were informed about the incident, which resulted in the death of a 63-year-old victim at 3.22pm.

"Investigation found that during the incident, the victim was chatting with five friends, including the suspect, at the hut.

"The suspect suddenly came from behind and hit the victim with a stick," he said in a statement on Tuesday (April 29).

ACP Helmi said the suspect then took out a knife and stabbed the victim before fleeing from the scene.

The victim was pronounced dead by a team of medical personnel when they arrived at the scene.
