Johor records 4.36 GPN for 2024 SPM

JOHOR BARU: Johor recorded a 4.36 National Average Grade (GPN) in the 2024 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations, its best achievement in the past five years.

State Education Department director Mohd Hanafi Samad said a lower GPN value indicates better candidate performance in the SPM examinations.

“Johor’s GPN in 2024 is at 4.36, which shows a decrease of 0.12 points compared to 4.48 that the state recorded in the 2023 SPM examinations.

“The state’s SPM GPN index has surpassed the national GPN achievement, which is 4.49,” he told a press conference to announce the results at the state Education Department headquarters here on Thursday (April 24).

Mohd Hanafi added that based on the analysis of SPM results between 2020 and 2023, this result was the best achievement recorded by Johor within five years.

He said, based on 43,176 students registered for the 2024 SPM examinations, a total of 40,266 or more than 94% qualified to receive their SPM certificates.

“About 1,513 candidates in Johor obtained excellent 2024 SPM results, with 41 of them scoring A+ for all subjects, which is double the 20 candidates that got all A+ in 2023,” he added.
