Fake data storage tools seized

IPOH: Counterfeit pen drives and memory cards worth over a quarter million ringgit have been seized during a raid at the Pengkalan Industrial Estate here by the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry.

State enforcement director Datuk Kamalludin Ismail said a 25-year-old suspect, who is the manager at the premises, was detained to assist in the investigation.

He said that the trademark owner’s complaint and information prompted the raid.

Preliminary checks by representatives of the trademark owner found that the pen drives and memory cards were counterfeit, he said in a statement yesterday, Bernama reported.

He said 1,401 pendrives and 7,519 memory cards worth RM255,014 were seized in the raid.

The case is being investigated under Section 102(1) (b) of the Trademarks Act 2019.
