Tun Abdullah's legacy will inspire future generations, says Cambodia's PM


PHNOM PENH: Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet (pic) expressed his condolences on the passing of former Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, joining other regional leaders in paying tribute to his legacy.

Manet wrote to his counterpart Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Tuesday (April 15), saying that Abdullah’s leadership significantly contributed to Malaysia's socio-economic development and that his legacy will continue to inspire future generations, reported Agence Kampuchea Presse.

"H.E. Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was a great leader of Malaysia and a close friend of Cambodia.

"On behalf of the government and the people of the Kingdom of Cambodia, I would like to convey my deepest condolences and profound sympathies to Your Excellency, the government and people of Malaysia, as well as family members of H.E.Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi for this great loss. May his soul rest in peace," said Manet, reported the national news agency.

Abdullah, 85, Malaysia’s fifth prime minister, passed away at the National Heart Institute on Monday (April 14) evening and was laid to rest at the National Heroes’ Mausoleum at the National Mosque in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday. - Bernama
