Man drowns while foraging for mussels in PD

PORT DICKSON: A 51-year-old man who was out looking for mussels along the beach here was found drowned off Pulau Tikus.

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the victim's daughter filed a police report at 7.30pm on Monday (April 14) after he failed to return home.

The victim left his house around 2pm to look for mussels along the Kampung Sungai Sekawang beach in Pasir Panjang.

"We sent a team to the area at 8pm and conducted a search.

"We found the victim just before midnight near Pulau Tikus," he said in a statement on Tuesday (April 15).

The officer said medical personnel confirmed the victim had drowned.

The victim's remains were then handed over to the police to be sent for post-mortem.
