Man nabbed for allegedly molesting female jogger


MELAKA: A 27-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly outraging the modesty of a female jogger at the Bukit Serindit Recreational Park here.

State police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the suspect from Jasin was apprehended at 12.05am yesterday near the location where the alleged incident took place.

“The suspect was arrested in connection with a molestation case involving a 20-year-old woman, who was jogging alone at the park at around 10pm on Thursday,” he said.

DCP Dzulkhairi said the suspect had been remanded for four days until April 14 to assist investigations under Section 354 of the Penal Code.

A police source said the suspect was said to have grabbed the victim from behind and attempted to drag her into some bushes.

Her shouts for help attracted other joggers who came to her aid, causing the suspect to flee.

Police from Bandar Hilir rushed there and managed to detain the suspect near the park.
