Kuala Pilah man denies biting wife


KUALA PILAH: A 32-year-old man claimed trial at the Magistrate’s Court here to a charge of causing injury to his wife.

Lee Jia Cheng pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to him before magistrate Yusna Khadijah Md Yusop.

He was charged with allegedly biting his wife, who is also 32, on her forehead, arms and shoulder at their home in Taman Wira Jaya.

The offence by the accused was allegedly committed around 3.20am on April 1.

The accused, who runs a provision shop, was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code read together with Section 326A of the same legislation.

Offenders can be jailed for up to a year or fined up to RM2,000 or both upon conviction.

Section 326A provides for a prison term twice as long as the maximum term under Section 323.

The court allowed the accused to be released on a RM6,000 bail and ordered him to stay away from the victim and other witnesses until the case is disposed of.

He was also told to report to the nearest police station once a month.

Yusna Khadijah then fixed May 15 for remention.
