KAJANG: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof and Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil are among 79 individuals who received the instruments of appointment as honorary and associate officers of the Civil Defence Force (APM) here on Tuesday (April 8).
Fadillah was appointed Ketua Pesuruhjaya Perdana (Perdana Chief Commissioner), while Fahmi and Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali were appointed honorary commissioners.
Deputy Digital Minister Datuk Wilson Ugak Anak Kumbong, Deputy Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir and Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas also received their instruments of appointment as honorary deputy commissioners.
Among the secretaries-general (KSU) who were also appointed as honorary deputy commissioners are Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa of the Ministry of Communications and Datuk Isham Ishak of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.
All the instruments were presented by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in conjunction with the closing of the 2025 Civil Defence Month celebration on Tuesday, which APM chief commissioner Datuk Aminurrahim Mohamed also attended.
In his speech, Ahmad Zahid said that APM continues to be a source of inspiration not only in the country but also on the international stage.
"I am optimistic that APM can emerge as one of the most respected civil defence organisations in the world.
"Therefore, APM must continue to be empowered with modern technology such as early warning systems, surveillance drones, and sophisticated rescue equipment to improve operational efficiency," he said.
At the event, APM Honorary/Associate Officer Management App was also launched to improve the effectiveness of the management of honorary and associate officers involved in civil defence activities.
This management app is also for record management and monitoring of the activities of APM honorary or associate officers. – Bernama
