Flash floods in Batu Pahat, 99 displaced


JOHOR BARU: A temporary evacuation centre (PPS) in Johor has been opened following flash floods in Kampung Baharu, Sri Gading, Batu Pahat, Saturday (April 5) morning.

Johor Disaster Management Committee chairmanTan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani in a statement said the PPS at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Sri Gading, which opened at 10am, is currently sheltering 99 victims from 34 families.

"Meanwhile, Sungai Senggarang in Batu Pahat is at the alert level with a reading of 3.32 metres. Two other rivers, Sungai Batu Pahat (2.30 metres) and Sungai Lenik at Ladang Cha’ah (5.14 metres), are at the warning level.

"The weather in all districts (in Johor) has been reported to be clear as of noon," he said.- Bernama
