Police seize 15 motorcycles in Johor Baru operation


JOHOR BARU: A police traffic operation in various locations within the city has resulted in the seizure of 15 motorcycles for various offences.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said the operation, codenamed "Op Motosikal," was held from 9pm on Sunday (March 23) until 2am on Monday (March 24).

"Police inspected 47 individuals and 40 motorcycles during the operation. Fifteen motorcycles were seized for further investigation under the Road Transport Act 1987," he said.

Police also issued 40 summonses for offences including riding without a valid licence, illegal modifications to vehicles, and other traffic violations.

ACP Raub added that in a separate incident during the operation, a 19-year-old male was arrested for using a motorcycle with a fake registration number.

The case is being investigated under Section 108(3)(e) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

"My men also recovered a motorcycle abandoned by the roadside which, upon inspection, was found to be listed as missing in the police database," he added.

ACP Raub reminded motorcyclists not to modify their vehicles or gather at roadsides in ways that cause traffic congestion or public disturbance.

He said police would take firm action against those breaking road traffic laws to ensure public safety and order.
