To a more sustainable sector

KUALA LUMPUR: All parties must play a role in realising the Water Sector Transformation 2040 (WST 2040) agenda, which aims to create a more sustainable and competitive water sector while serving as a catalyst for economic growth, says Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof (pic).

The Deputy Prime Minister said that WST 2040, launched last October, also aimed at ensuring high-quality water supply while advancing science, technology, innovation and economic growth.

Fadillah, who is also the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister, emphasised that water is a vital resource essential for human needs, environmental sustainability and socio-economic development.

“From daily necessities like drinking and food preparation to agricultural and industrial use, every drop of water plays a crucial role in ensuring overall well- being.

“Without adequate water resources, life cannot thrive harmoniously and ecosystem balance will be disrupted,” he said in a Facebook post, in conjunction with World Water Day, Bernama reported.

Fadillah also said that every drop of water is precious and must be used wisely, adding that wastage not only impacts present lives but also jeopardises the well-being of future generations.

“Clean water resources are declining due to pollution and climate change, making it our shared responsibility to manage them efficiently and sustainably.

“Let’s work together to build a more sustainable future by preserving our water resources for Malaysia’s well-being,” he said.
