CHUKAI: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced a RM250 Aidilfitri special financial aid for religious school teachers, imams and mosque personnel across the country.

He said the aid will be disbursed next week, benefiting about 70,000 recipients with a total allocation of RM17mil.

"Earlier, I announced the RM500 Aidilfitri aid for civil servants. This also includes RM250 for military veterans, both pensioners and non-pensioners as well as retirees.

"Tonight, I want to extend this assistance to Kafa teachers, Takmir teachers, imams, bilals, tok siak, noja and marbut," he said during the Madani state-level Ramadan breaking of fast event at the Sultan Ahmad Mosque here on Friday (March 21).

Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said the government recognises and appreciates the significant contributions of these individuals, leading to the decision to provide the aid.

The government today had also announced a RM500 Aidilfitri special financial aid for civil servants in Grade 56 and below, which will be paid on March 24.

All government retirees, including both pensioned and non-pensioned military veterans, will also receive RM250 under the special festive aid. – Bernama
