Sabah TYT’s birthday on March 30

KOTA KINABALU: The official birthday of the Sabah Yang di-Pertua Negeri (TYT) will be marked this March 30 to coincide with the actual birthday of Tun Musa Aman.

State Secretary Safar Untong, who disclosed this, said the new date for the TYT’s official birthday was gazetted on March 6 and would be effective this year.

This replaces the previous date of Oct 4.

However, he said Istana Negeri will decide the date for the official celebration.

Because March 30 is a Sunday, Safar said a replacement holiday would be provided.

The Sabah TYT celebration is annually celebrated in the month of October after it was shifted from the first Saturday of June several years ago.

With the announcement of the TYT’s new birthday date, there has been speculation that Sabah will celebrate an extended Hari Raya holiday with a replacement holiday.
