Sabah TYT's official birthday now celebrated on Musa's actual birthday of March 30

KOTA KINABALU: The official Sabah Yang Di-Pertua Negeri birthday celebrations will be marked on March 30, in line with the actual birthday of Tun Musa Aman.

State Secretary Safar Untong said that the new date for the TYT's official birthday, which replaces the current Oct 4 celebrations, was gazetted on March 6 and would be effective this year.

However, he said that the date for the official celebration will be decided by Istana Negeri.

"Gazetted @ 30 March. Date of Celebration will be decided by Istana," he said when contacted about the gazette shared on social media

Asked if the March 30 holiday, which falls on a Sunday and subject to a replacement holiday was effective this year, Safar replied;" Yes."

Sabah TYT birthday celebrations are celebrated annually in the month of October after it was shifted from the first Saturday of June, several years ago.

WIth the gazette of the TYT's birthday, Internet users have been speculating that Sabah will enjoy a longer Hari Raya holiday with the replacement holiday.

They expect March 31 to be a replacement holiday and even if Hari Raya Aidilfitri falls on Mar 31 or April 1, they would have an extra day added for the celebrations.
