Five tonnes of controlled goods seized in Kelantan


KOTA BARU: The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) in Kelantan has seized nearly five tonnes of controlled items, including sugar, oil and wheat from a premises in Jalan Leburaya Pasir Mas-Rantau Panjang.

Kelantan KPDN director Azman Ismail said the seizure, which involved a total value of RM53,000, was carried out by a team of personnel from the KPDN Pasir Mas branch during a raid on a business premises at around 4pm on Sunday.

“The raid was conducted after receiving information that the premises was storing controlled items without proper authorisation. Upon inspection, we found nearly five tonnes of controlled goods at the premises, including sugar and oil.

“A man who claimed to be the owner of the premises was also questioned but failed to provide any valid documents regarding the ownership of the controlled items,” he said in a statement yesterday, Bernama reported.

Commenting further, Azman said that during the operation, they also seized a truck after finding several individuals unloading controlled goods into the premises.
