Mosque shares Ramadan warmth with non-Muslims

Insightful experience: A group of non-Muslims breaking fast at Masjid Putra in Putrajaya.

PUTRAJAYA: Non-Muslims tourists got the opportunity to experience the tradition of breaking of fast (iftar) at Masjid Putra Putrajaya when it opened its doors to 300 non-Muslim visitors recently.

The event on Saturday was organised in collaboration with the Islamic Outreach Centre ABIM (IOAC). It is aimed at introducing non-Muslim tourists to the traditions of Ramadan.

The mosque said the annual iftar Ramadan programme for non-Muslim tourists continues to attract both local and international visitors where they experience the tradition of breaking of fast.

“They joined nearly 3,000 congregants and visitors in sharing a meal at the mosque.

“For non-Muslim tourists, they had the opportunity to observe, appreciate and understand the lively, harmonious and beautiful atmosphere of this unique iftar experience.

“They were able to personally experience sitting cross-legged and waiting together for the time to break fast with other congregants,” the mosque said in a statement posted on its Facebook yesterday.
