Wall panel at Masjid Jamek LRT station collapses, services unaffected, says Rapid Rail

PETALING JAYA: A wall panel at the Masjid Jamek LRT station collapsed during heavy rain and winds at 4.04pm, says Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd.

In a statement, the LRT services operator said that no deaths or injuries were reported and it did not involve major structural damage to the station.

"Cleaning and rectification works are currently being carried out by Rapid Rail's facilities team," the statement added.

Rapid Rail also said a special committee would be set up to investigate the incident and to ensure that the structure of the Masjid Jamek LRT station was sound.

Auxiliary police officers have been deployed to ensure smooth movement of passengers at the station.

Rapid Rail apologised for any inconveniences to commuters and said that the latest updates could be found via Rapid KL's official social media channels.
