Journalist murdered after getting death threats

POLICE in India are investigating the murder of a journalist who was reported to have received threats prior to his death, Makkal Osai reported.

Ragavendra Bajpai, 35, was apparently investigating corrupt practices in the purchasing of rice yields and land auctions.

His expose resulted in four state government officials getting suspended.

Ragavendra was said to have been getting threats over the case.

A reporter for a Hindi-language newspaper, he was found shot dead in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

He was riding his motorbike when he was approached and shot by two unidentified men.

Ragavendra was hit three times. The assailants then swiftly fled the scene.
