Pensioner nabbed by MACC for suspected false claims

KOTA KINABALU: A pensioner has been arrested on suspicion of making false claims totalling RM60,000 when he was serving in an enforcement agency four years ago.

The 62-year-old man was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission at its Keningau office at 9.45am Monday (Mar 10), according to sources.

The sources said that the arrest was the result of investigations on the purported false claims made between March 2020 and Aug 2021.

The claims were made via false documents that the suspect submitted to an enforcement agency in Sabah, the source said.

When contacted. Sabah MACC director Datuk S. Karunanithy confirmed the arrest and said that the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.

He said they expect to charge the suspect at the Kota Kinabalu Special Corruption Court on March 14, 2025.
