No signs of foul play so far after dead man found with bound legs and neck at Treasury office, say cops


KUALA LUMPUR: A 45-year-old tribunal officer assigned to the Customs Department was found dead at his office in Putrajaya on Wednesday (March 5).

It is learnt that the officer, who was from the Attorney General's Chambers, was found dead with his neck and legs bound with cable ties at the Treasury Office of the Finance Ministry.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the distress call was received at 10.56am on Wednesday (March 5).

"A team of police personnel was dispatched to the scene.

"They discovered the victim lying on the office floor with his legs and neck bound using cable ties," he said when contacted on Wednesday.

Comm Rusdi said the case was classified as sudden death.

"We have not found any criminal element, but we will know more once the post-mortem is conducted tomorrow.

Comm Rusdi advised the public to not speculate on the case, and he also urged those with information on the case to contact the KL police hotline at 03-2115999 or Putrajaya police at 03-88862222.

The Finance Ministry, in a statement, said that it was saddened by the incident and offered its condolences to the deceased's next of kin.

"The Finance Ministry is also cooperating fully with the police with their investigation."
